what to expect (NEW LEARNERS)?

Bayside Driver will provide a learning environment and experience that the new learner is comfortable with. It is understandable that you may be nervous and unsure at first. Drivers are taken someplace quiet to assess your ability and get you started. We then build on skills as your confidence levels increase. We will start slow and steady at lower speeds and progress at the pace you are comfortable with, moving from quieter areas to more complex situations at a safe pace. We will ensure you can apply your theoretical knowledge of the road rules to real life experience with other drivers.

Each lessons builds on the previous and takes in as many different driving experiences as possible. You will learn to not only control your own vehicle, but to anticipate what other road users might do and learn to be ever vigilant as your learn to drive.

We recommend that new learners only take 1 hour lessons in the first instance. Their is a lot to take in, with many new experiences and it can be exhausting concentrating until you get the hang of it. More experienced drivers can consider longer lessons if this suits their schedules.

How many lessons should you book (NEW LEARNERS)?

After your initial (assessment) lesson, your driving instructor will be in a better position to assess how many lessons you should take. Everyone is different - some people take to the driving experience immediately and others may take a little longer to settle in.

Some factors to consider are: - your confidence level, your previous (if any) driving experience and how quickly you take to it all.

Everyone learns at different speeds; we are not born knowing how to handle a vehicle in traffic. It is important that we build on each experience and leave you confident in your ability. New drivers with little or no driving experience will usually look at between 5 & 10 hours before they are comfortable to commence driving with their parents. For less confident drivers, 15 to 20 hours may be required.

The aim is for you to become a safe and competent driver.

How many lessons should you book (preparing for your driving test)?

So, you have all or a majority of your driving hours completed, and want to prepare for your driving test.

Bayside Driver will assist you to build on the experience you have already gained during your 120 driving hours and fine-tune your driving so you are ready to ace your drive test.

We will drive around the test area, getting you familiar with the roads you may be taken on during your test, all the while discussing and practicing what the Testers will expect you to know to pass your test.

We will continually assess your knowledge of the road rules and explain the testing procedure so you know exactly what to expect on the day.

It is suggested that drivers leading up to their test take 3 to 5 lessons prior to their test, plus seriously consider taking up the Test Package to ensue you are in the best possible position to pass first time around.
